About Agnaris

We are a technology company from Recife. We build software, forecasting models and data integration for agriculture and agribusiness in Brazil's Northeast.

Our story

Agnaris began with an observation: agricultural operations in the Northeast record a lot of data, in weather stations, weighbridges, laboratories and spreadsheets, but almost never use it to decide ahead of time.

The founders, two software engineers who graduated from UFPE, decided to bring to agriculture the same rigor used to build systems: measure before promising, test before deploying and keep the assumptions in plain view.

The first major piece of work is a study of twenty seasons of rain and operations in the Zona da Mata of Pernambuco. The platform products and the diagnostic method came out of it.

Recife and UFPE

Recife is home to Porto Digital, one of the largest technology parks in Brazil, and to the Centro de Informática at UFPE, where the founders studied.

The city sits at the edge of the sugarcane Zona da Mata and a few hours from the Agreste, the Sertão and the São Francisco Valley. The team can be in the field the same day.

How we work

  1. Existing data first

Before proposing a new sensor or system, we use what the operation already records.

  2. Measure before promising

Every estimate comes with its assumptions. A gain counts only once it has been measured.

  3. Go to the operation

The team visits the field and the plant to understand the process before building any model.

  4. Product engineering

Systems built to last: tested, documented and careful with data security.

  5. Open research

Methods and results are published, in partnership with universities and institutes.
